Howdy. No, Texas A&M does not actually own that greeting; we've been using it since Texas became a republic (a few years before I was born). I'm a product of Southwest Texas, born in Crystal City (the spinach capital of the world, by the way) and raised in Uvalde (Go Coyotes!). I have mesquite brush, prickly pear, red ants, road runners, farm land, ranch land, hill country, dry caliche, drive-ins, stock tanks, bass fishing, Mexican food, Lone Star, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, and horny toads in my genes...and probably a little too much DDT.
Typical of the 60's and 70's, I spent eight years getting my four year college degree (BFA, Painting/Drawing); but that was because in the middle of it, I got the honor of touring Southeast Asia on Uncle Sam's dime. Only by the grace of God am I here today. Eventually, I earned a MFA in painting/drawing and finally a Ph.D. in the Medical Humanities, Arts and Visual Studies. I've lived on the Texas Gulf Coast in Galveston County now for over three decades where I have served as a professor of art and a college administrator. I am now retired and loosed upon the world to fulfill my calling.
So who cares, right? I say all this just to give you a little insight into the creator of Richard Alexander, the protagonist in a series of mystery/thriller novels I am writing, the first of which is titled Virion.
Virion is published byBlack Rose Writing (http://www.blackrosewriting.com/). It's the story of an artist who is transformed--first physically, then spiritually--into a man with unique crime-solving abilities, and what he had to sacrifice to use those abilities. In his efforts to bring a vicious serial killer to justice, Richard Alexander is thrust into the spiritual war between Good and Evil.
Please read the back cover on the VIRION page for more information. VIRION can be purchased from Black Rose Writers,Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. It is available as a Kindle book.
I know...this is one of those homemade websites lacking sophistication and pizazz. But hey, with the price of gasoline and bullets these days... I'm learning...I'll jazz it up. If enough of you buy my book, I might even hire someone to do it.
